Check this out, in today's Sunday Times.
by A*STAR (Agency for Science, Technology and Research) chairman Philip Yeo is well-known for his gung-ho, shoot-first-ask- later manner. Have a load of this controversial comment.
A*STAR is a govt agency who dishes out scholarships for Singaporeans.
On the need to hire foreign talent for Singapore's life sciences industry (February 2000)'
If I wait for NUS to produce the engineers, the project would have gone to Timbuk- tu. World's my talent market. If Singaporeans can't make the grade, they go to Perth. You know what Perth is like? A very boring place.'

What kind of crap is that? There are definitely people who can make it to Singapore universities but choose to go abroad (some to Perth) because:
1) they feel the education system in Singapore stifles their creativity,
2) the course they are interested in is not available in Singapore,
3) or they just want to get the hell out of Singapore.
A Singapore degree may be internationally recognised but there are people (surprise surprise) who would, for a wide variety of reasons, prefer to take alternative routes.
Fine, Mr Yeo has a right to express his own opinion but in that case, so do I.
It is of my opinion that Mr Yeo is an ignorant, insensitive and exceptionally rude prick. His comment has not only offended the people who have chosen to study abroad but it has affected the reputation of A*STAR as well. Does someone so thoughtless deserve to head such a big organisation?
good one there, poo poo... mr.yeo just made a bias statement right there, and that statement doesn't do much to help strengthen sg-australian political ties (which was why mr.nathan came to WA recently).
and felix, thanx for propping by my blog. love the song on your blog. very contemporary. can dance to it in a most exotic way. where did u link it from?
Hi Kim, this is Jill ere. Uncle Felix has asked me to help explain about the linking of his song.. he didnt link the song on his blog from anywhere on the web. He hosted the song on www.angelfire.com and embeded it in his blog..
If you would like to do that, first of all u've got to get an angelfire account, upload the song to your account and embed it in ur blog using the embed tags.(which stupid blogger does not allow me to paste the actual code here, for watever reasons i duno...-_-)
Hope this helps... though i'm not sure if Xanga allows you to do so... but it shouldnt be a prob.. :)
